Meet up at 8:00 am at the Circle K 14990 W Colonial Drive, Winter Garden, FL. 34747 Depart at 8:30 am.
Ocala National Forest is the second largest nationally protected forest in the State of Florida. It covers 607 sq miles or 387,000 acres of Central Florida. The forest is home to the state’s largest populations of Florida Black bears and scrub jays.
Our route will take us through Minneola, Ocala with a break in Hawthorne then continuing through Salt Springs to our lunch spot in Astor. Lunch will be at Drifters Riverfront Bar & Grill. After lunch we will head through the National Forest on Route 40 and then back towards our starting point in Winter Garden. Our return route has us stopping near Ocala for fuel and to stretch those legs before we continue south to our starting point in Winter Garden. The total number of miles for the day is 261 miles – with an estimate return time around 4:30 pm. This route is sparsely populated, and you can experience the tranquil countryside at a leisurely pace while taking in both the solitude and the views.
